No One Who Cooks, Cooks Alone

Today, as I am preparing Thanksgiving foods and perusing my long gone Grandma Stubbs’ hand-written recipes I am reminded of a favorite quote by Laurie Colwin, “No one who cooks, cooks alone. Even at her most solitary, a cook in the kitchen is surrounded by generations of cooks past, the advice and menus of cooks present, the wisdom of cookbook writers.” How true this is for those of us who like to cook...we prepare dishes that, perhaps, our own Mothers and Grandmothers prepared for us and we tweak them from generation to generation, adding our own signatures.  We always have a part of them with us. I cherish the memories and handed down recipes and know that I am not alone.

I wish you all a blessed, Happy Thanksgiving and some pants with a real stretchy waistband!🦃🍂🍁🥧🍮🍨🌽
