Perfect pillows~they make a HUGE difference!

I purchased a pair of these chairs for about $20 somewhere around 18 years ago... ironicallly from what would later be my shop and warehouse space!    Today, I decided to do something with them!  Although I didn't paint, reupholster or refinish them...I think this made a huge difference for the better.

I had a pair of pillows whose stuffing was all bunched up and they were looking really sad.  I removed the stuffing and placed them over the chair pads.  These are in my entry way, on either side of an English Chippendale styled dresser so they are really there just for looks.

Pillows make such a difference in the way a chair appears...they add so much warmth and charm  an overall 'have a seat' feeling.  I got some new pillows from Word Garden...an Etsy shop I adore that specializes in custom made decorative pillows.   She has a vast selection ranging from French inspired Cottage Chic to custom picture pillows and beautiful Old World Style pictorials.    Here are pictures of the floral vase and enchanting castle on lake pillows I have.

My favorite is this floral pictorial trimmed with gold gimp and framed in burlap...the perfect combination where elegant sophistication meets comfortably casual.  I love it!
Isn't the detail wonderful?

Sally at Word Garden has a lot of scenes and graphics to choose from in her burlap pillow line.  Each pillow cover has an image that has been printed onto cotton fabric, then appliqued onto a burlap pillow cover. The trim is hand sewn around the image, framing it beautifully!  Right now, she has a sale going on and you can choose any two of the scenic burlap pillows at a discounted rate!  Tell Sally Nancy sent you! You can also buy the whole pillow or just the pillow covers if you have some that you want to freshen up or change out for a different look.  I love doing that!

I added a little dragonfly ornament that I can't seem to toss out, despite the fact that an antennae is missing.  I think he's cute perched on the pillow and it works here since these chairs are really never sat upon.  I love the mix of fabrics and textures of embroidery on silk, cotton on burlap and hand beading.

My home is  blend of French, English, and Victorian with an Old World feel so these fit in beautifully but they would blend with any traditional or Cottage chic style!

Next month I'm going to show you some of Sally's ever so Paris Chic-y French document pillows!  Can't wait!  And I'll be announcing a giveaway Wednesday or Thursday so check back in and don't forget to visit Word Garden...isn't that a great name?
