Custom Valances for the Shop

This is the back room of our store...there are no windows at all so it's a bit dark.  We get a tiny bit of light coming through the doorways that open to the main, front room of the shop.  

I wanted the area to have a home-like feel so custom valances were made by Green Onion Designs to go over the doorways.  Heidi is the owner of this store and made me these gorgeous Trumpet Valances in a fabric called Guilliano.  It reminds me so much of my Spode Byron dishes (my previous post features these) with pastoral, country life scenes, thatched cottages and the overall color scheme. 

I was waiting for the valances to arrive before painting this wall. I already had the gold colored paint on hand and it turns out it was a perfect match for the valances. 

I've been in such a state of 'hurry' the past few weeks that I forgot to take any before pictures of this wall, but suffice it to say, it looked much like the other 'before' pics of walls I've shown you around the shop.  

The valances arrived about four days after I'd decided on the fabric and style I wanted.  I've never had anything custom finished so fast.  Heidi will create from your fabric or the stock she has.  I was so impressed as these came fully board mounted and ready to hang. All of the hardware was included so it was just a matter of the installation which was super easy...especially since I sweet talked hubby into doing this for me! ;-)

Once the valances were installed, I began hanging plates on the wall.  I have so much brown transferware and red transferware so I decided to do the wall with a combination of both, on either side of the massive carved mirror.

 The French table seats 10 -12...it's huge, and the top is one solid piece...no leaves!!!  Growing up, this is the size of table we had in our breakfast nook at home.  I have 6 brothers and a sister so we definitely utilized a big table. With six kids of our own, Shawn and I would love to have had room for a table like this at home. 

I'm a little anxious to dress it up with a Christmas setting.

Under each plate arrangement is a rounded front, mahogany wall corbel. 

This is the same kind of corbel / shelf I flipped upside down and hung curtains from to form a little canopy, framing in this seating area in my shop.

I love these teacup & saucer display stands.  I have several for sale in my shop and use them to display lots of cups, saucers and cream soup bowls with saucers too. 

I like displaying flatware in pitchers to show off the pretty handles.  This is one I'm carrying in the store as a special order.

I wish I could've gotten better quality photos with my camera but I'm not that good at photography and don't have the best camera either.  I'm happy with how this wall is coming along so far though.

In between the two Rococo commodes, just under the mirror I placed a pretty Sheraton plant stand and topped it with a red transferware tureen.  The bottom holds a thin vase filled with pheasant feathers, pine brances and red berries.
