Christmas Cloche Vignette in Brown

Still ticking away at my Christmas decor.  Shawn tells me to quit obsessing.  Hmmm...I'm not ready to quit just yet. I don't even have a big tree up yet.  I found the top of it and had it laying out in the den.  Last night, simultaneously Ethan and I made the remark 'the white tree is now yellow' and I added that it looked like someone tossed it to the curb during a snowstorm and everyone drove by and splashed ice and mud on it.   If/when I get it all put up, yellowish brown and all, I will share it with you all.  But for now, here is my Christmas cloche vignette I've created on the Bombe' chest that separates the kitchen eating area from the den.

The cloche on the left is filled with brown Christmas ornaments.  I added some brown spiral glitter picks to the floral and pheasant feather arrangement to add some holiday sparkle.

These little snowflake ornaments are $3 for 20 at Walmart...can't get much cheaper than that.  I laid them on the table top, the lamps and the decanters.

I have two other cloche's on this table.  One, I've shown before...it's an amber golden color and I have it filled with wine corks.  I topped it with a snowflake too.

My next cloche sits on an antique transferware compote by Spode.  Inside the cloche I have another brown transferware plate that is slightly octagon shaped.  This past Spring I found a real birds nest and a couple of weeks later a bird egg out in the front yard.  Unfortunately someone who won't fess up broke the real egg a couple of weeks ago.   I think it was one of my daughters friends.   Now there are three little ornaments and a bird in the cloche, on the nest.  I tucked another snowflake in there.  My pics are really bad.  I can't seem to get one good photo of any of my cloche's so I apologize.

These are some of my favorite candles.  They are bark pillar candles and even have the tree rings on top.   They are so warm and natural looking.

If you like decorating with cloche's then you'll really enjoy the Cloche party at Marty's I am participating in.

Have a wonderful weekend everyone!   Look for me at the first of the week at The Thrifty Groove where I have been invited to guest post!    And...if you are in Tulsa tomorrow please come out to my shop, The Vintage Abode at 8 W Dawes in Bixby (151st & Memorial).  I'm having an open house from 11-3.

  2. Nancy, your home looks amazing all decked out for Christmas!! (Were you a floral designer in a previous life?) I enlarged the pics to try to get a good look at all your nutcrackers. I liked your corks under glass. I have a friend who makes wreaths from corks, and sells them to raise $ for charity. ( No, she doesn't drink that much, all her friends save the corks for her.)

  12. I was studying all the decorating Nancy! What a collection of nutcrackers you have and how you have displayed them looks fab. You will have to do a post on that one my dear. The main feature is gorgeous and the rusty colored snowflakes are so pretty with your browns and greens. Such a talent!

  13. I love the squirrel, bark candles, transferware, & all the woodland decor. I especially love seeing the Walmart ornaments used. I saw those and liked them but couldn't work them into my other stuff. They had a lot of different colors this year & I hated passing them up. Good to how someone else used them. Very creative and Beautiful!
