Paisley, Leopard and Roses Tablescape for Fall

I have to say that when I came across a full set of these dishes some months back I really wasn't sure whether or not I liked them.
When I buy transferware to resell, my general rule is that I have to like it myself, not that my taste is better than anyone else's but just because I like what I do and I just don't have an interest in trying to sell something to someone that I wouldn't buy myself.    Well, I let these dishes sit stacked in a pile at the shop for a long time.  One day I took them out and began pairing them with other patterns in sage/light olive greens, oranges and browns.  Wow, they are versatile.   I set a table with these dishes paired with some April Cornell linens that had a black background filled with fruits and flowers in greens, reds and oranges.  They just popped against the black background.  They really began to grow on me.

When I came across these leopard placemats for $2 each I knew I 'needed' them.

Then I found this paisley sheet for $6.  King sized sheets make great tablecloths, especially on my table which is very wide, so it fully covers with an ample drop all around.

Paisley + leopard + roses =

this tablescape

Now, I think I can say that I'm officially hooked on these dishes.

Just for fun, and because I was combining all these patterns I decided to just mix everyting up!  I placed the placemats at a vertical angle, rather than a horizontal one.

I placed the napkins at an angle to, along with the salad and dinner fork.  My Mom won't like this at all, sorry Mom!
The napkins bring out the peachy color in the hand painted roses, and in my faux roses centerpiece.

The table exudes a feeling of Fall, especially with the addition of these miniature ceramic gourds.  Each one is unique.

If I had loads of money, one thing I'd splurge on is having real flowers throughout my house.  For now, silks will have to do.

I also got to use my Onyx goblets along with some pressed amber glass wine glasses.

Add a little candlelight and I think we're ready to sit down and eat.

Perhaps after dinner, you'll share a cup of tea with me...

Autumn Fires
~ Robert Louis Stevenson ~

In the other gardens
  And all up the vale,
From the autumn bonfires
  See the smoke trail!

Pleasant summer over
  And all the summer flowers,
The red fire blazes,
  The gray smoke towers.

Sing a song of seasons!
  Something bright in all!
Flowers in the summer,
  Fires in the fall!

These dishes are available for purchase in my Etsy shop, English Transferware

  9. Those onyx goblets are way cool! I loved the napkins placed on an angle. They make the whole tablescape come alive and marry the color of the plates. Wish you would have shared who the maker was. And, now I'm going to give king sized sheets a new "eye".

  18. Your table is so unusual and beautiful. Fabulous look with the leopard and paisley. I like the way you turned the placemats and angled the napkins. I'd normally be with your mom about the napkins, but in this case it works beautifully both visually and practically. Cute little ceramic gourds, too.
    Happy weekend.
