Cupid Imprisoned

I thought I'd share some transferware for Valentines Day.

First is this plate by Enoch Wood and Sons, circa 1825 called Cupid Imprisoned or Cupid Behind Bars.

Next is another deep cobalt plate by Adams, also dating to about 1825 from the scarcely found Cupid Series.   The scene is called "Cupid and Venus holding a Garland".

And this darling cup plate, from a childs toy china set, depicting Cupid riding on the wings of two swans.  The pattern name is Voyagers and is believed to signify a deep meaning in the imagery that swans mate for life and are traditional symbols of love and fidelity.

And how about some transferware hearts?  These pendants are all made from transferware pieces.

Here's the perfect tray to hold all those chocolates you're going to get.
 From Spode,  this reads:
Love wasn't put in your heart to stay,
Love isn't love till you give it away.

Take away love and our earth is a tomb.
