Beautiful Ways to Decorate With Hats

A few days ago I posted some pics of my bed HERE with a small collection of straw hats over the headboard and promised to show you all some other photos with great ideas for displaying a small, or large for that matter, collection of hats.  I found some really charming images and great display ideas to share.

First up is a display I was immediately drawn to.  I love the various levels of items here from a mirror over the hats hanging on a long board to the landscapes below.  Check out the tortoise on the table next to the vase of flowers.

Wow!  Love this whole arrangement. What a dressing area!

I love this display below, but even more than the hat display I LOVE that walking stick gathering basket you see propped up in the corner.  I've wanted one of those for the longest time but seldom see them.  They are made to stick in the ground while you take your flower cuttings.  Isn't it cute?

This disiplay would be so easy to recreate.  Don't you love this hat rack made from tree branches? Such a whismical way to display a hat collection!  It reminds me of a piece of driftwood I had used as a towel rack by the swimming pool at our home some years back.  I wanted to take that driftwood with us when we moved.
I love this look!

Hats hanging with vintage lace linens under botanical prints...fresh and feminine.
You can't have too many in my opinion...love these hats and baskets on a rustic stone wall.

How cute is this open shelf above the doorway stacked with hats?

I like this entry way with hat racks flanking the mirror.

And this one as well from Houzz

This entry is right up my alley...more formal but with whimsical and casual details such as the hats placed upon the walking sticks.

I really like this display covering wall space up and along the stairs.  This is an area in homes that often gets overlooked and is left blank.  If a space is left blank, it just doesn't look right to me.  This simple collection and display keeps this from looking sterile and totally boring.  The hats add so much visual interest and yet are in keeping with a very neutral, all white color scheme.

I thought this was adorable; a vintage wood window casing with pegs adhered to the glass to hold and display an assortment of hats.

Straw hats, woven purshes and picnic baskets grouped together in a foyer...it just works!

These suspended hats make a unique display and would work well in a retail space too.  I think you could pull this off if you had high ceilings over a dressing area or vanity.  Hmmmm....gives me an idea.

This simple hat display in the laundry room adds just enough texture and warmth to the room.

I found a few more images of hats over beds, like mine...here is one.  Love the beadboard walls too!  I could not help but to notice the books displayed under the bed as well.

 Hats and Woven basket trays

Here is another bedroom I liked with hats displayed over the headboard.  Here, they have combined them with lots of vintage pearl and beaded necklaces.

When you enter my room it is on a landing that will take you a few steps down into the room.  My bed from the landing with hats over head.   In my room, there is so much color that I needed something neutrally colored here.  I don't think having a big floral print or something with loads of color would work as well.

  12. Such cute ideas, Nancy! I'm a hat lover and have so many! Most of them are in antique band boxes stacked in pretty piles around my bedroom. A few are on a peg hanger in the hallway (including the Pithe helmet and then 1830s Sturbridge bonnet I sometimes wear in the garden!) I used to have a coat tree in the bedroom with hats hanging from it, and I liked that a lot, but I like hat boxes, too. Thanks for posting this! Your bedroom is lovely!
