Happy Valentines Day!
We are preparing our dinner now but I wanted to share some pics of our table before the day is gone. Tonight we are staying home with a couple of the kids and having a quiet dinner together and then watching movies.
I set the table with a piece of pale pink, taffeta like fabric that has gathered rosettes. I bought this just to use as a table covering and love the texture of it. As always, I used vintage transferware; pretty Wedgwood creamware transfer ware plates with Cherubs on them. The wine glasses are Waterford Crystal and the vintage cranberry and gold tumblers were a garage sale find.
My tea light holders are actually two napkin rings, one sitting on top of another. I like these tealight candles because they have a clear plastic container, rather than a metal one that most have.
Double egg cups were filled with foil wrapped chocolate hearts, which is actually the only true Valentine themed thing at the table.
For the centerpiece I used two small children / cherub statues and surrounded them with a mix of fresh and silk roses in pinks, reds, ivory and burgundy colors.
The flatware is Barenthal Mabre' and the chargers are some I've had for years.
Shawn's Mom gave us this cute Valentines apron, and Trevor was not shy at all about modeling it for you all!

Very pretty table! I used our red transferware plates and the King's Crown glasses, with red, pink, and white M&Ms and candy corn scattered about. And Trevor is a ham, isn't he!

I'm glad you were able to include the kids in this celebration because Valentine's Day is about ALL the people you love. I'm sure they appreciated all the effort that went into making this table so pretty for a special evening in.
REALLY great idea on the napkin rings as votive holders! I have used the clear plastic cup votives for years and years and years. You're right...so much more attractive and less conspicuous than the metal casings.
