Christmas Home Tour 2014

I think I am really good at running out of time to get things done that I want to do.  In fact, I might even say I'm an expert in the field.  How about you?  Surely I can't be the only one good at this!

By the time I finish up with this post it will be tomorrow.

Probably like you, I have been trying to finish up wrapping gifts, baking, cooking, cleaning and then starting it all over again.

I'm looking forward to taking a little break and seeing our family over the next few days.  We've got plans for the next three days including going on a hay ride through Honor Heights Park in my hometown, Muskogee, tomorrow evening with my Dad and Step-Mom.  If you are near Muskogee it is well worth the trip to tour the park during the holidays and see the gorgeous and unique display of lights.

I have taken photos here and there of the house and wanted to show them to you before Christmas comes and goes!

I'll cut this short, as far as words go, because I have a lot to show.  I hope you enjoy the mini tour~

Dining Room

Chandelier

I have accented several lamps in the house with glitter covered snowflake ornaments.  They stick right to the shade and look so pretty when the lights are on.

Transferware Topiary 

I purchased these wreath topiaries a few years back at an after Christmas clearance sale.  I knew exactly how I would decorate these.  I hung graduating sizes of transferware plates in the center of each wreath.  Everyone loves these!

  

An everyday centerpiece for the dining room table is

a huge antique red transferware wash basin filled with a mix of red ornaments.

Kitchen

In this little vignette I've filled a gallon sized antique Marmalade advertising crock with Chistmas baubles, a Masons Vista pitcher that is fitted with a miniature Christmas tree and a special seasonal piece; a brown transferware plate by Spode with a Nativity scene.  I found the antique painted tole tray at an estate sale recently for $3!  

The Entry Way

  I made a wreath with some miniature transferware creamers and hung it on one of the French doors.

Living Room

Looking into the living room from the entryway….wish I'd lit the fire for this photo. ;(

This is my favorite corner in the house; the spot where I love to have a cup of coffee almost every morning….and where I do have the fire going in this photo! =)

Family Room

 For the past 6 or so years, I've decorated our main tree with vintage red transferware teacups. The original post about my tree  can be seen HERE along with photos of my previous dining room (my favorite).

This vignette is on a small wall in the family room.  Here I've used the snowflake ornaments again and just pressed them onto the lamp shades.  They're a little rough so the texture holds to the fabric of the shades without attaching them permanently.  I've had so many compliments on this!

The  French armoire and bookcase in the TV room is where I display a lot of brown transferware. On either side of the armoire I've got two demilune tables and each has a huge pitcher that would have been part of an antique wash basin set.

 I have creamy white hydranges in these and put small Christmas trees in them decorated with pheasant feathers iridescent bows and glittered curly-q picks. 

I've probably said this on my blog before, but something about this house that I adore is all the little nooks and crannies it has.  These little niches are perfect for vignettes, which I love to create.  This little niche perfectly holds a unique bar I bought Shawn years ago.  It looks like a fancy dollhouse which makes it very fun to decorate for the holidays.  I made two moss topiaries and put them in vintage transferware toothpick holders that look like planters.  Along with white nutcrackers, they flank the doors to the house.  Several wreaths hang from the gables and windows, and atop the roof…Santa's sleigh of course.

The chair in front of the bar is the perfect spot for a needlepoint pillow with our last name embroidered on it and a leopard trimmed Santa hat that was one of the girls when they were itty bitty.

This little nook is just outside of the guest bathroom, off of the tv room. 

Grandma Judy gave the angel figurine to Kalyn which sets next to another tree in an antique brown transferware pitcher.  I tied a sheer ribbon with a holly leaf design on it around the top of the lampshade.

I think that wraps up the little tour.  I am so sleepy.  As I predicted at the beginning of the post, it is now tomorrow, two days till Christmas.  May you all have a very Merry one.
