Thanksgiving Hutch with Red Turkey Transferware & Giveaway Ends Tomorrow!

You don't see much in the way of red at Thanksgiving but I wanted my hutch to have a little bit of a Fall feeling even though I'm not hosting Thanksgiving this year.  I swapped out a few pieces of my usual display for some pieces of red, Thanksgiving themed ones.  This is the first year, definitely since being a Mom, that I can remember not putting any Halloween decor out and very little decor for Fall.   This is it about it.   With the whole Etsy filming I just did not find the time to do much Fall decorating.

The platter is a huge, 20 or 21" whopper big enough for a 20-24 lb turkey,  by Wood and Sons dating to the 1930's.  I displayed it last year on another table HERE, where I also told about the history of the turkey themed English wares.

It's surrounded by some bundles of wheat, my favorite little facorns, some pinecones and this trio of chipmunks.

So that's about all I have for my Fall decor!
What are your plans for Thanksgiving this year?  We are going to one of my brothers homes and I am taking my corn and onion casserole that I shared here last year, a new dessert that I have yet to ever make but I have it planned out in my mind...so if it turns out good I will share, and hmmm...not sure what else I'm going to take just yet.

One quick reminder...tonight is the last night to enter the giveaway for this circa 1830's blue transferware plate.

Just leave a comment, which I would very much appreciate,  on the Etsy blog post and you're automatically entered to win.  Thank you to everyone who watched the video and who has left a comment on the post.

  9. I did enjoy the video this weekend. Am so glad you wrote about it on your blog because the video was short so thank you for helping me know about the process of filming it and the difficult events leading up to you creating your Etsy business. The history lessons you often include on the dishes is one of my favorite things about how you write your posts. I hope you have a wonderful holiday this year and that the video will increase your business greatly.

  13. I wonder why we don't see much red around Thanksgiving. You would think we would as it is a deep, rich color found in leaves, etc. I like to mix red and brown with shades of creamy ivory around Thanksgiving. That platter is absolutely gorgeous, and I love the way the turkey is positioned on it! He looks serious!!! :-) Happy Thanksgiving, Nancy! Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy!!!

  15. This red turkey platter sure steals the show! Are they rare? And we're really into chipmunks around here, both the real ones and not so real. I'm going to write down your onion-corn recipe. I think it would be good any time of the year.
